The Primary Years Design Thinking Process (PYDT) has been tailored from traditional design thinking to cater specifically to primary education. Recognizing the unique challenges of young learners, PYDT streamlines the process, placing emphasis on engagement and hands-on learning. This adaptation ensures that primary students receive effective guidance while fostering creativity and problem-solving skills within a more concise framework.
Beginning with an engaging provocation, then process the moves into the Define phase which introduces an authentic problem, the "How Might We" question, while Understand offers explicit instruction. The Prototype phase encourages hands-on or digital creation, and Test allows for continuous improvement through feedback and reflection. The cyclical nature of Understand, Prototype, and Test refines solutions iteratively. Finally, the Share phase enables students to present their creations to stakeholders
