Robotics plays an important role in a primary STEM program, however it's important to understand the relationship between robotics and coding to ensure it is purposefully used in our classrooms.
We can use the Mathematical CPA model to explain the progression of skills and pedagogy used to teach robotics and coding concepts. We know that our youngest students learn new concepts best when they have access to concrete materials! Whilst in Maths this may be unifix or counters, in coding, the concrete materials come in the form of robots!
This podcast episode explains the CPA approach to coding, as well as tips and tricks to introduce coding in the Early Years.
